Feng HuangBridges like this one below were earlier used as a communal meeting place. Villagers would bring food and just hang out. Travelers would go there for shelter. Although large gatherings probably werenÕt all that popular, by the government. Nowadays it is packed with souvenir shops. |

The old core of Feng Huang is more or less intact. Some of the houses and the wall through the city has been restored. Many of the big houses were built for prosperous merchants. Today, many families share the each house. Although the exterior may have been restored the interior is in need of restoration. |

The current residents arenÕt nearly as well situated as the former merchants. This court yard is "decorated" in a fairly "popular" or a least common Chinese style. |

What should we call this? Bridge, foot-bridge, plank or ford? Pretty nice construction anyways. Although the water was only a meter deep it was odd to see a guy running over it. |
